Variety is the spice... remember?

When landscaping pick a variety of low-water-use, and if possible native, plants for a beautiful and easy to maintain yard. Other than adding more visual interest and color to your yard, the variety is also healthier for the soil and the ecology in and around your yard. It will make your yard less vulnerable to pests and it'll attract a wider range of critters like birds and butterflies.

Just say 'no' to perfectionism!

Great coffee table. Instead of over-processing the wood, leaving the slab as it is highlights the beauty of its natural form.

Dichondra

Dichondra looks great between flagstones, and it's even a great lawn/grass substitute if you have a somewhat shady lawn that doesn't get much traffic - a lot of front yards fit that bill! It's lush and green, and it only gets about as tall as you see in these pictures so you don't have to mow it! Saves you time and energy for an easygoing life! And, oh, it looks pretty cool, too!

Small is good

A kitchen, a cozy living room and dining area all in a not so huge room... Pretty cozy and relaxing though, right? Smaller homes are easier and less expensive to maintain, lower priced, environmentally friendlier... Who needs a giant house, anyway?

Cozy Casual Couch

These white covers might be hard to live with, they may get dirty too quickly but there's something homey and comforting about these classic couches. The rugs in both pictures are pretty cool, too.

Give me some green

Can't go wrong with a lot of foliage. It makes any place more cozy and easygoing. Be aware of water consumption though... Also, casually laid flagstone is always a good way to add some natural charm.

Humble & happy kitchens

These kitchens don't have the newest fancy appliances or thousand-dollar faucets but they're better off for it. Seek comfort and joy, not luxury and status.

Easygoing & cozy > fancy

Easygoing and relaxed environments are always more interesting and happier than fancy and luxury environments. Relax, get comfortable, and enjoy!

Cool water

Any water feature tends to make a place a lot more easy-going (although it would sure add to the amount of maintenance required so don't ignore that side of the coin!)

For a succulent life!

I love landscapes where a large variety of (preferably low water-use, low maintenance) plants were used. It's also nice when the natural shape and size of the plants are cherished and taken into consideration, instead of creating a situation where they need to be frequently trimmed and pruned to be presentable.

Relaxing bedroom

This is one super cool bedroom, isn't it? It has those big windows, those exposed beams, simple and cozy bedding, that ledge by the bed where you can put all your stuff... An overall good looking, simple and very relaxing set-up.

Casual living rooms

Couple of casual and easy-going living rooms. The coffee table in the bottom picture is quite nice, it's simple, practical and has rounded edges which anyone with small kids can appreciate, and it actually happens to be safer for people of all ages. The rug in that picture is pretty cool, too.

What a place!

I've always preferred more natural looking landscaping. The hang-out area with the casually laid flagstone and the natural fire-pit below sure fits the bill. Speaking of natural landscaping, having an actual river in the backyard wouldn't be too shabby either.

Cozy living room

This is Amanda Peet's living room. It's bright, unpretentious, easy-going and comfortable. Way to go Amanda!

Tony Shalhoub's cozy place

These are images of Tony Shalhoub's house (star of Monk.) That yard is just great with those large trees and the natural looking grass. I love it when grass doesn't look like putting greens or artificial turf, and has some natural variations in density, shows where people walk through or hang out on the most. The kitchen's really nice with those easy-going simple cabinets. Great cozy place.

'Soft'ware vs. 'hard'ware

Pretty cool kitchen this one. The exposed beams are nice and I like the fabric "curtain" covers used instead of cabinet doors.

Rustic cabinets

Kind of cool kitchen this one. The simply put together wooden cabinets are kind of nice. Definitely an easy-going and unpretentious set up.

Easy-going life is the life!

Cozy flooring outside on that patio along with some beautiful plants and great doors. Kilim rugs are great everywhere and they look quite nice in this kitchen. Above all though, cozy, easy-going, and low maintenance are the highlighted ideas here. Long live the unpretentious, unpolished life!
