Lakeside cabins and a Mediterranean patio

Cozy & natural

Natural materials, colors, and textures almost always add charm and make any setting more cozy and relaxing. I think there's something inherently calming, and soothing about having nature (or reminders of it) around, that everyone, regardless of their stylistic preferences, respond in a positive way to it's influence.

"Dreams don't work" stairs

I love the quote and personalizing your space without restraint. You'll be happier in an environment like that than in a soulless but supposedly good-looking space. Funny how as some people grow they start caring more about what others would think rather than what brings them joy (Another symptom of this transition is caring more about the frame rather than the artwork.)

Easy-going home

The place seems easy-going and low-maintenance without unnecessary bs - and beautiful! That must be the formula to live happily!

Natural stone paths and flagstone patios

These are some amazing looking examples of stonework, and the casual spirit in which they were used in goes so well with the non-uniform and unpolished nature of the stones. Like in that pool image, don't you just love the foliage growing through those stones?

Beautiful outdoor shower & stone patio

Whether its a Mediterranean patio or a tropical outdoor shower area, natural textures and colors, (like the stone walls, flooring and flagstones in the images below) and of course plants, make everything more beautiful, and give their surroundings a rich character.

White summer pool & stairs

Rough and un(der)processed materials always make an environment more relaxing and easy-going -concepts that go especially well with vacations & summer!

Simple shower

This bathroom is a little too prison-like but the simplicity is inspiring and definitely makes things easier to maintain.  Those who follow the blog already know that I love exposed plumbing (here and here.)

Outdoor stone floors

Rustic and rough stonework always look good, especially when there's a great view by it!

Casually mismatched dining

Cool looking walls and a nice casual table set up with a mismatched variety of chairs make a charming dining room.

Great antique wood floor

While the distressed leather furniture's cool, and the aged brick wall is, while a little on the extreme side, still pretty nice - the wood flooring is awesome!

Cool river rock/pebble walkway

A path made of colorful river rocks like this would be a great (and relatively easy) DIY project to add color and lots of character to your yard.
